Opening bids of 2♥ and 2♠ show a variety of types of hand. 2♥ shows either a weak hand (about 5-9 points) with five hearts and a five-card minor, or an Acol 2♥ opener, or a strong balanced hand (about 19/20 points). 2♠ shows either a weak hand (about 5-9 points) with five spades and another five-card suit, or an Acol 2♠ opener.
After both openings, a response in the next available bid is a relay to seek clarification.
