BMB Holidays Host Mark Rixon
Mark and Rebekah Rixon for Pancreatic Cancer UK

My Story
In July 2023 Mark was rushed to hospital. A growth was discovered in his pancreas and skilled surgeons at Kings hospital London removed his pancreas, gall bladder and spleen.
Mark says
“I am now fully recovered but my daughter (Rebekah) and I are determined to raise awareness of this horrible disease.”
It is the deadliest common cancer. The brutal reality is that diagnosis comes far too late for most people. Half of people die within three months of diagnosis. So, families are left with only hope to hang on to.
But hope is not enough. The disease must be detected sooner.
And it can be.
Thanks to the work of Pancreatic Cancer UK’s dedicated team of researchers, a simple test to detect the cancer earlier is within reach. It just needs more funding.
With people running, cheering and raising funds to support this research, together we can save as many lives as runners in this great race.
We will give it our all. We won’t give up. Mark and Rebekah will complete the marathon distance and cross that finish line.

Bernard Magee Charity Seminar Events
About Bernard Magee
Widely regarded as one of Britain’s leading bridge instructors, Bernard has introduced thousands of people to the game through his books, television appearances, and teaching events. His engaging and entertaining approach makes bridge accessible, enjoyable and endlessly fascinating, whether you are looking to improve your game or simply spend a day with fellow enthusiasts.
The Day Itself
The day will begin with tea and coffee on arrival, followed by an hour-long teaching seminar. Combining expert insight, practical advice and plenty of humour, Bernard’s presentation will offer players the opportunity to sharpen their skills, improve their understanding of the game, and perhaps see familiar situations from a fresh perspective.
Guests will then play a selection of specially prepared set hands, designed to illustrate key bridge concepts and provide an enjoyable challenge around the table. Bernard will share his thoughts on the hands played and offer guidance that players can take away and use in their future games.
After lunch, Bernard will draw the raffle and present the prizes. The afternoon will then continue with a friendly Chicago Bridge session. This sociable format of the game offers the perfect balance of competition and conversation, allowing players to put the morning’s learning into practice while enjoying an afternoon of bridge in good company.
