Daily Quiz User Guide
Open today's Daily Bridge QuizThe BMB Daily Bridge Quiz (DBQ) launched 5th January 2026. It is intended to be quick, informative and informal. No ladder is published.
The purpose of the DBQ is to increase the number of players who are comfortable scoring, and checking the score, at the end of each board, without having to scan the back of their bidding cards. At least, for the more frequently occurring scores.
Also players need to be comfortable with the mental arithmetic involved in deciding whether or not to make a sacrifice bid.
Since the second week of the DBQ an explanation of the correct answer has been presented to members who submit an incorrect answer. Since 10th February 2026 an explanation of the correct answer has been presented to members who submit an answer.
Here is some guidance for members responding to the DBQ:
The question assumes duplicate bridge scoring, unless stated otherwise.
The software running the DBQ is inevitably restricted in the format of the answers it interprets as correct.
Here are some examples of correct answers to previous DBQ questions… ’50’, ‘1430’, ‘-100’, ‘9’, ‘A’.
Here are some examples of incorrect answers… ‘100!’, ‘100?’, ‘1,430’, ‘a’, ‘minus one hundred’, ‘minus 50’, ‘the answer is 50’.
(Note that quotation marks are used here to delineate answers but DO NOT add quotation marks to your actual answers)
If the questions asks for your score then it is asking for your side’s duplicate score on that board, irrespective of what other pairs may bid and make on that board. For example, your score for making 10 tricks in 4H non-vulnerable undoubled is ‘420’.
The question may ask for your score or it may ask for your opponents’ score on a board.
If the question doesn’t mention whether a contract has been doubled then it has not been doubled.
If a question refers to:
- Favourable Vulnerability then it means your side is non-vulnerable and your opponents are vulnerable.
- Unfavourable Vulnerability then it means your side is vulnerable and your opponents are non-vulnerable.
- Love All then neither side is vulnerable.
- Game All then both sides are vulnerable.
If the question asks for Match Points awarded then it is not asking for Match Points percentage.
