Term given to a partnership agreement about entering the bidding after an opponent’s 1NT opening bid. There are a number of conventions in use because nothing is entirely effective in overcoming the pre-emptive effect of a 1NT opening.
More and more players are using a simple defence called Landy, whereby a 2♣ overcall shows both majors and all other suit overcalls are natural.
